Eating Your Words or Writing What You Eat
I will be teaching a memoir class at the Women’s Writing Retreat at the Pyramid Life Center in Paradox NY. We gather on Sunday evening, July 16. Classes are 5 mornings Monday through Friday. There will also be classes in fiction and poetry.
We will be writing about the foods in our lives and the meaning derived from family favorites, comfort foods, holiday meals, as well as easy and challenging recipes. Memoirs usually have a focus such as a specific time period (teenage years) or place (living on an island) or a continuous thread through a person’s life – family history, illness, or other challenges and triumphs. Our focus will be food. No need to be a foodie; I’m not. You only have to be someone who both eats and writes.
